Oh Darn!

So, now Kali isn't eating. She refused a piece of cheese and Temptations. I want to start her on the antibiotics today just in case that's the problem. I want to try giving her baby food. Does anyone know what type I should buy? Or do you have any other suggestions?

If she still doesn't eat, well that's my sign to let her go. I will ask you to purr for her still. Thank you.

PS She did eat her pill pocket.

(((hugs))) and purrs for all of you. The V-E-T told Momma to give EG chicken baby food. He said to warm it up in the microwave for a few seconds to make it extra stinky.

We are purraying for Kali and for all of you.

Oh no! I'm sorry Kali isn't eating now. Mum is giving me cod. It's the only food I'm interested in at the moment and the only thing I can keep down. She got me fresh cod fillets to start with, but then she tried the frozen cod steaks. I like them just as much as the fresh fish. They are rectangular blocks of pre-formed pieces of cod. They are 100% pure cod. You can also get fish steaks, but they are a mixture of different sorts of fish and probably not such good cuts. She just puts 1 steak in the microwave for me for three minutes, but only lets me have a third at a time, which is not very much at all, but at least I can keep it down that way. She is feeding me every three hours.Maybe you can tempt Kali with this. I hope it works.
Purrs furrom Eric.

There are prob'ly some others who know more 'bout this than we do, but baby food (plain chicken or other meat - without added stuff) is definitely worth a try. Warmin' it up a little sounds like a good idea!!

We're continuin' to purr and purray our hardest for Kali and you.

At the cat shelter, they use any meat flavor the cat likes. You can try lamb, turkey, chicken or veal. Look for a kind with no sodium added. I am purring for Kali.

When my big sister was ailing Mommy tried mashed tuna sometimes that worked, also the chicken toddler baby foods seemed to work (it has a bit more flavor than the really little baby stuff). Also, you can try giving kitten milk (or sometimes you can find adult suplement) with a syringe.

We're purring for Kali and you all.

Maybe try a kitten food....that is the only thing we can suggest. We will contnue purrayers.

We are usually tempted by chicken babyfood- like stage 1 or whatever is JUST chicken. But we like chick-hen so whatever meat she might like. Kitten food is a good idea too, especially ones that have a nice gravy. Good luck!

So sorry to read about all of this, you will stay in our thoughts and our prayers. We might be inclined to try some cream of rice or even boiled rice; and of course the first-stage baby foods. That's not based on any specific experience or knowledge; just instinct I guess.

what mommy usded to do to get The One Who Came Before to eat when he was sick wif cancer was to add some chick-hen baby food to some warm water and then give him a couple of syringes full. He didn't yak it up or anything, and after a day or so he started eating the baby foods on his own. As long as it's like the Stage 1 type wif no onion powder or salt, the v-e-t said that he could haf as much as he will eat. The v-e-t said that one guildeline that all the v-e-t-s she knows uses is that if the kitty will not eat for 3 days, it's time. The One Who Came Before would go 2 days and then eat like a horse on the 3rd day, and then eat for a few more days and go through the cycle again. But she would always give him water and baby foods in the syringe no matter what. Not getting enough water will make a kitty get a bad headache and then not want to eat.
We is purring hard for you Kali.
KaliandTyler'sMom, if you needs someone to vent to or ramble to 'acuase it's frustrating and confoosing, mommy says you can email her at themeezersATgmailDOTcom anytime. She wented through this wif trixie and norton and the one who came before, and the one who came before that and the one who came before that!

Oh No! We are purring very hard. Not sure on the baby food question. Though, have you tried canned tuna fish?

cheryl said...

oh, yes! if she's not a fish-eater, then chick-hen baby food's the bestest. no salt or onion, though. the meezer version of water & syringe might get her started if she doesn't wanna lick at first! the portantest thing is to get somethin' in her NOW!!

purrs, hugs, an' blessings to you all from

We agree with everyone about the chicken baby food. Our Callie is 18 years old, although she's in good health, but she absolutely adores chicken baby food. The brand my mom usually buys is Nature's Goodness - it has no preservatives, no artificial flavors or colors, no modified food starch and no onion powder.

Kali, we're purring so hard for you and your bean and kitty family.

Hi Tyler,

Are you located in San Jose? IF so stop by an An Jan Feed Supply Store, there are a few located in the area and pick up a bottle of "Lickables Super Charger," An Jan is the only one I know that carries it. We've used it for both Sissy and Moki when they have stopped eating in the past, and where on the edge. Needless to say it helped bring both of them back from the edge, since they are still with us.

You can put a dab on your finger, and rub on the roof of the mouth, or mix a dab in the baby food. As for the baby food itself, chicken and beef tend to be the flavors prefer by most cats. Make sure whatever brand you purchase does not contain "garlic or onion" since both of these can be deadly to cats.

I have an extra bottle of the "Super Charger," and will be in the blossom hill area of San Jose tomorrow afternoon. If you can't find it at An Jan today, I may be able to meet you, and give you the bottle for free, at a Starbucks somewhere in South San Jose tomorrow afternoon, since I will be in the area. If you want to arrange something, you can email me at questions@savemoki.com

Purrs for you. Any type of nice smelly baby food is good--the smellier the better. Warming will make the smell spread too--that's the most important thing.

our furrend Jade is only eating canned salmon (for people) with kitty nutritional supplements added to it. we hope she keeps wanting it, because it's the only thing she will eat right now.

Oh, I'm so excited about all of your suggestions. I did locate a bottle of the Super Charger stuff that Moki's person wrote about. I am going to buy many different types of food to entice her to eat. I'm wondering if her current meds especially the one to stop her from vomiting could affect her appetite. I probably should call her vet and let her know that she's not eating and to ask this question. Maybe I'll research it online first...

Thanks and hugs to everyone. Kali would meow thank you too at you, if she could. I swear she understands English.

MomBean had a geezer kitty and when she didn't eat the vet recommended 'anything stinky-the stinkier, the better'. I guess her nose wasn't 100% and if she couldn't smell the food she didn't eat it. So MomBean got things like a few oysters, (which makes MomBean gag), sardines, etc and warmed them, which makes 'em even smellier.

(I think MomBean blew chunks after, but the meezer ate!)

Here are some of the things my Human tried with me:

Chicken baby food
Cheap cat food, warmed in the microwave
Gravy-based cat food
Stinky fishy food (my last few weeks have been a tuna diet - only thing I would eat)
Prescription A/D food - with some hot water stirred in to make it soupy.
Roast chicken.
Chicken in moroccan spices
Tinned Pumpkin mixed with Applaws natural cat food
Lamb basd food - I had not eaten lamb before and the new taste sensation worked for a while.
Chicken mixed in with Bisto gravy
Yoghurt
....I fink that is about it.

Good luck my dear friend...I hope you pull through xxx

Dear Tyler and Mommy Lynn! I am ever so sorry to hear dear Kali is not eating well anymore. I went through this heartache with Miss Peach last year as you well remembered. The vet did blood work and it showed that her kidney function was slowing some and gave her Hill KD can food to eat. Also Prednisone and some anitbiotics for her ear infection plus ear drops. The predisone did the trick for her appetite thankfully. She still is a fuss little eater but slow and steady is our motto. Each precious day she is happy we are thankful for it. I know Kali is a senior citizen and she will tell you when she is ready to go to the bridge. Do try to tempt her with all of the good recommendations the kitties have already listed. I would try them all at this point. Even butter from your fingertip. Beef baby food with a few drops of water added was a hit with Peach. I would syringe it when she was too weak to eat it.
God Bless you all on this journey. Do not give up hope yet...Kali will let you know. Peach did not eat for over a week and pulled out of it. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I am always here for you...love Karla & Miss Peach

I always gave Lilly Gerber Stage 2 chicken or turkey baby food. I filled a syringe and "force fed" her. If she keeps it down, fine. Lilly kept puking it up after a time. Perhaps that will stimulate her to start eating again. I've even done this with water. Good luck. I'll be praying for you and her.

Pee Ess from Mom Robyn: Lynn, tempting her with yummies is a great idea. As for helping her to the Bridge, you will know when it's time. When it hurts more to have her here not feeling well than it does to let her go, then it's time. *hugs* Robyn

When The Winter Kitty stayed wif us an was having trouble eating cause of a "hipothiroid", The Big thing did 2 things he read about. First, he used a eyedropper to squirt gatorade down The Winter Kitties throat (fer the elektroliters). Second, he put poached chickie and chickie broth inna blender ta make a soup that could be squirted like the gatorade.
